The Dolomites Cycling Tour has long been one of the most popular cycling marathons in the whole of the Alpine region. Perfect organisation and the unique ambience of thousands of enthusiastic spectators along the route and brass bands performing in the villages give the Dolomites Cycling Tour the feel of the bigger ‘Giro’ event. The ride through Europe’s most environmentally-friendly region, finishing in Lienz old town, cannot fail to set the pulses of cyclists racing!
Cycling legends like Francesco Moser know this feeling only too well and keep coming back for the Dolomites Cycling Tour. The anniversary ride will also feature lots of famous cycling greats at the starting line!
SECURE YOUR UNIQUE ANNIVERSARY TRICOT
Participants will be issued with a special anniversary tricot to mark the 30th Dolomites Cycling Tour. A similar tricot was worn 40 years ago by Francesco Moser at the first ‘Giro del Trentino’. Since only limited numbers of this high quality cycling tricot can be ordered, we recommend registering as soon as possible at www.dolomitensport.at. And you will also make a saving on the entry fee!
THE ‘SUPERGIRODOLOMITI’ HAS BEEN SETTING NEW STANDARDS FOR 4 YEARS
The ‘SuperGiroDolomiti’ as a new and extreme version of the race runs over 232 km to Friuli and onto Italian soil. 5234m of altitude difference have to be completed before reaching the finish line in Lienz. This ultra-marathon launched four years ago is classed as a real challenge among insiders. Cyclists are also impressed by the perfect organisation, great route, fantastic atmosphere along the roadside and dreamy natural landscapes. And so the ‘SuperGiroDolomiti’ continues to captivate extreme cyclists. The masterful winner of the last Ötzal marathon, Bernd Hornetz and his whole team have signed up for the fourth ‘SuperGiroDolomiti’. His aim is to complete the challenge as the winner, something he has failed to do to date. Participants in the ‘SuperGiroDolomiti’ will be greeted at the finish line in Lienz old town with fitting applause and the sought-after finisher’s tricot. We recommend registering now as the ‘SuperGiroDolomiti’ is limited to 1000 participants.
PETER SAGAN & CO FROM THE BORA HANS GROHE TEAM WILL TRY OUT THE ROUTES IN MAY AND JULY
Lienz/East Tyrol has been declared an exclusive training camp for 2017 by the ‘Bora Hans Grohe’ world protour team. An agreement has been signed with the tourist board headed by team manager Ralph Deng. The world’s top professionals will come here to prepare for the season’s big cycling events and of course, the routes of the ‘Dolomites Cycling Tour’ and ‘SuperGiroDolomiti’ have been chosen as training circuits. Trainers believe that the route of the ‘SuperGiroDolomiti’ could serve as preparation for the ‘Tour de France’. It is not impossible that individual team members could also be present at the start of the 30th Dolomites Cycling Tour.
